Refunds

If you paid for a card and never used it, you can ask for $57 of the $60 back. Nothing is refunded automatically — the money stays yours to claim, and claiming it is one button.

What counts as using it

For your own card, using it means sending it. For a card you paid for as a gift, it means the person you bought it for sent theirs.

Anything short of that is unused and can be refunded — a card you paid for and never finished, or a gift nobody got round to. A card that has been sent cannot be refunded: it is on other people’s mantles and there is no unsending it.

Why $57 and not $60

$3 is kept. That is the card processing on the original payment, which isn’t returned to us when a payment is refunded — it is a cost we pay whether or not a card is ever sent.

You are refunded against what you actually paid. If the price changes after you buy, that doesn’t change what comes back to you.

How long you have

90 days from when you bought it. After that we can’t send it back — card payments can only be refunded for so long, and we would rather tell you the limit up front than find it when you ask.

How to ask

Sign in and press Ask for $57 back beside the card. For your own card it is on your account; for a card you bought for somebody else, on cards you’ve bought. We send the money back to the card you paid with. If something is in the way, write to us.

Within five business days of asking. Your bank then takes its own five to ten days to show it, which is out of our hands.

Only the person who paid can ask. If somebody bought a card for you, the refund is theirs to request.

If you bought more than one

Cards bought together are refunded one at a time. If you paid for three and one family sent their card, you can have $57 back for each of the other two — the one that was used stays used.

Nothing is owed

Nobody is ever chased about an unused card, and nobody is told that somebody else hasn’t used one. If a card you paid for goes unused, that is between you and the money, and this page is how you get it back.
