Your data, and deleting it
How long things are kept, how to take a copy with you, and what deleting your account does — including to the cards you've already sent.

Take a copy, any time
Your account has a download of everything: your cards as a file anybody can read, the people on them, the people you sent them to, and every photograph at full size. Cards other families sent you are listed with their links. It always works, whether or not you’ve paid for anything.
How long things are kept
- Your account and cards — for as long as you have an account. A mantle is meant to last years.
- A card started without signing in — may be deleted after 30 days nobody has touched it. Anything sent or paid for is never deleted this way.
- Sign-ins — a signed-in browser stays signed in for 90 days after you last used it. An unfinished sign-in is thrown away after 10 minutes.
- Payments and refund requests — kept as long as the law requires records of payments to be kept, even after an account is deleted.
- Messages you send us — until they’re answered and no longer needed.
Deleting your account
Ask us while signed in, or tell us the address you sign in with, and we’ll delete it within 30 days. We’ll confirm when it’s done. You may want to download a copy first; after this it can’t be undone.
Deleting removes:
- your mantle, and the cards on it that others sent you;
- cards you started and never sent, and photographs used only on them;
- your list of people to send to;
- your name, email address and phone number, and every signed-in device.
What deleting doesn't take back
Cards you’ve already sent. They sit on other families’ mantles, and those families were given them to keep — so they stay, with their photographs and the household name they were sent under. They are no longer connected to you.
If there’s a particular photograph on a sent card that you need removed, for somebody’s safety or because it shouldn’t have been there, tell us and we’ll look at it with you.
Copies inside our database provider’s backups are not edited, and expire on their own.
